2017 Christopher Kane runway dress very similar to MET museum held Ring Dress
About the Item
Christopher Kane “Big Rings” metal embellished fully beaded dress, as seen during the Kane's fashion show at London Fashion Week Spring 2017. A very similar dress is featured in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. While slightly different in shape and materials, the MET's dress is of exactly the same ring-connected panelled design and belongs to the same year/collection (photos attached in the gallery for your reference).
The dress consists of multiple tetragonal panels fully covered with glass beads and interconnected by metal rings. It features patchwork design, cut-out details, copper rings & eyelets embellishment, glass beads embroidery. Closes with a concealed zip under the arm.
Condition 8/10: excellent. Note that tiny "stripes" in the photos that may look like missing beads are actually beads that have slightly changed position and therefore reflect light differently. This effect stops me from guaranteeing 100% that not a single bead is missing; if some are, then this is completely imperceptible
Tagged size IT 40/UK 8/US 4: chest, waist and hips 46 cm, total length 118.
In addition to the dramatic textures, the dress is notable for its well-thought-out engineered design, calculated with architectural precision, where the density and texture of the panels and the arrangement of the rings are carefully calibrated so that the proportions and clean geometric shapes of the dress do not deform under weight.
